The Tubberfly - Narrative construction & script development

Having written the script for Tubberfly for the first time, I feel it is necessary to write out the narrative process to support my sketchbooks Narrative construction research also. My script has also been refined and shall be re-written, as some areas have been analysed and critiqued as unrefined in areas.

Act one - Setup

Tubberfly is a different kind of Butterfly. As the modern world has invited him into todays era; he lives on processed unhealthy food which has been found and left over by children and adults at a local park he lives in. Tubberfly has essentially became a land animal; rather than the flying one he is supposed to be.

Act two - conflict

Very soon, Tubberfly whizzes past a beautiful female butterfly; his Love at first sight is introduced into the story. As Tubberfly attempts to fly up high to continue talking to the Lady butterfly; he realizes he has lost the ability to do so. Tubberfly cannot spend any time with the one he loves without the ability of flight. Over the course of two days, Tubberfly attempts to find new ways to fly, he creates hot air balloons, Da vincis flying machine concepts, birds and even a soda pop jet pack. Still he cannot reach or get to the Lady butterfly, as all of these fail, despite his efforts; as he is still too heavy for all of these methods.

Act three - Resolution

Tubberflies numerous physically exerting efforts have in fact allowed him to lose weight, one morning he is shocked as the simple concept of helium fulled balloons tied to his waist successfully rise him up high in the sky. Birds however pop all these balloons for some morning fun; as he is falling through the air - he sees the lady butterfly. Tubberflies first second hand nature reaction is to go to her - here he realizes he has lost a tremendous amount of weight and can fly all by himself. Lady butterfly and (no longer really) Tubberfly can live happily ever after together in a relationship in the sky.
